“Mutual trust is key for integration” is the main message put forward by one of the NGO representatives participating in the second co-ordination meeting of the Project “coLAB: A laboratory for new forms of collaboration” that took place in Rome on 6-7 September.

The project supported by the European Union/Council of Europe Joint Programme DISCO aims to improve the social integration of refugees in the academic environment by providing opportunities for refugees to work as external experts and teaching staff in the participating institutions.

Project Partners from Belgium (Haute Ecole Galilée and IHECS Academy), France (Université Clermont Auvergne), Italy (LUMSA) and the United Kingdom (University of Arts London – London College of Communication) discussed the progress of activities.

Candidates have been identified during the summer and they will hold classes starting from October.

Refugees who are based in Italy and NGO representatives working with refugees (Comunitá di Sant’Egidio and Centro Astalli) shared their experiences.
