Overall objective

  • To encourage further dissemination of and engagement with the Council of Europe Training “Teaching Controversial Issues” and “Managing Controversy” across a wider range of European countries and education settings by building on the peer learning from the translation, adaptation, dissemination and training activities carried out since the publication of these two Tools by the Council of Europe.

 

Specific objectives

  • To identify, collect, review and systematically distil in one accessible Guide the good practice and learning from the experiences of those across Europe who have been involved in further development of the above-mentioned Tools since their publication by the Council of Europe in 2016 and 2017

  • To publicise and share the identified good practices so as to guide and enhance further future dissemination and implementation activities with the Tools

  • To help to fulfil the potential of the Tools to contribute to the positive engagement of teachers/educators and young people across Europe with controversial issues.

 

Outputs/expected results

  • A good practice guide “Learning how to handle controversial issues in schools and other education settings” that will include guidelines and case studies.

  • Training and Learning Testimonies: short video testimonies recorded with trainers, educators, training organisers about their experiences using the tools “Teaching Controversial Issues” and “Managing Controversy”.
