Digital Resistance: First teacher training in Austria

What tools could be used to identify fake news found on the online environment and social media? The first teacher training organised in the context of the Project “Digital Resistance” was held at the University of Vienna on 22 November 2018. Teachers from seven schools got acquainted with Council of Europe tools such as the Conceptual Model of Digital Citizenship Education and the Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture.

The Project “Digital Resistance” is currently implemented in five countries namely Austria, Germany, Greece, Italy and Romania. It is funded by the European Union/Council of Europe Joint Programme “Democratic and Inclusive School Culture in Operation (DISCO)” and it aims to develop a strategy to address the issue of fake news by promoting tools to teach students how to assess information found online and on social media.
