“Intercultural communication”, “International Communication Strategies” and “International Business with Middle East” are some of the courses that will be taught by refugee teachers, participating in the Project CoLAB, at the University of Clermont Auvergne starting from end of October.

During the kick off meeting that took place on 9 October 2018, the incoming refugee teachers received information on the project and guidance on how to structure the courses. Referent professors will support incoming refugee teachers to develop the courses and to evaluate the work of students.

The project received the support of Mathias Bernard, President of the University of Clermont Auvergne, of other members of the management team of the University and of local NGOs that were involved in the initial phase of finding potential candidates for the project.

The Project CoLAB is funded by the European Union/Council of Europe Joint Programme “Democratic and Inclusive School Culture in Operation (DISCO)” and it aims to improve the social integration of refugees in the academic environment by offering opportunities for refugees to work as teaching staff or experts in the participating institutions.
