On 31 May – 1 June, over a 100 policy makers, practitioners, researchers and young people met for the Youth Partnership symposium “Visible Value: Growing youth work in Europe” in the European Youth Centre Budapest, looking at the challenges and opportunities for growing youth work in Europe. They shared good practices, resources and ideas which will help them for furthering youth work in their communities. 

This was also on occasion to celebrate the 25 years of cooperation between the European Commission and the Council of Europe in the field of youth. The two directors, Matjaz Gruden, Director of Democratic Participation, Council of Europe and Sophia Eriksson Waterschoot, Director for Youth, Education and Erasmus+, European Commission and Spyros Papadatos, Chair of the Advisory Council on Youth (CCJ) and of the Joint Council on Youth (CMJ), Jorge Orlando Queirós, Chair of the European Steering Committee for Youth (CDEJ) and Maria Rodriguez Alcazar, President of the European Youth Forum had a panel exchange about the Youth Partnership's contribution to the youth sector in Europe.

 The event aimed at:

  • offering to the youth work community of practice a room for peer learning, networking, and exchanging on youth work development and the implementation of the European Youth Work Agenda, and identifying challenges faced and support needed;
  • discussing the most recent research findings on youth work and showcasing good practices, promising initiatives and resources developed by the Youth Partnership and participants and their organisation;
  • presenting related initiatives and achievements of the Council of Europe and of the European Union;
  • sharing views on a process of permanent dialogue of the youth work community of practice for the upcoming years.
