Strengthening the core of youth work

Youth work’s core lies in its ethics, quality, standards, recognition, visibility, monitoring, and evaluation. To reinforce these essential features, the Youth Partnership will focus on three key areas:

  • Enhancing visibility and recognition of youth work.
  • Promoting ethics in youth work practice.
  • Building capacities on the fundamentals of youth work.

Amplifying visibility and recognition

We will collaborate with European stakeholders to launch a communication campaign that highlights the importance and value of youth work, drawing on the outcomes of the 4th European Youth Work Convention and our Advocacy Kit for youth development and recognition (A-Kit). This initiative will also support countries interested in launching national or regional campaigns and adapting the A-Kit to their local contexts.

Upholding ethics in youth work

Building on the Convention’s conclusions, we will develop a European Code of Ethics for Youth Work. This code will serve as a guide and inspiration for youth work organisations and practitioners, helping to fulfill their roles amid complex societal challenges while upholding shared values and ethical principles in their daily practice. Where relevant, it may be complemented by an educational tool to provide ethical guidance for youth workers and young people.

Deepening knowledge of our MOOC ‘Youth Work Essentials’

We will continue to update, promote, and expand our MOOC on Youth Work Essentials, offering a self-paced learning opportunity on the core concepts, forms, practices, approaches, objectives and key actors in youth work at both European and national levels. The MOOC will be enriched with annual masterclasses to deepen learning and foster exchange among practitioners.
