Horizontal Facility

With a shared commitment to justice and equality, 74 lawyers (63 women, 11men) from the Antalya Bar Association and civil society representatives gathered in Antalya to explore how strategic litigation can serve as a powerful driver of lasting change in women’s rights in Türkiye.

Through practical exercises, participants learned to identify high-impact cases with potential to influence law, public opinion, and systemic reforms for gender equality. They also practiced drafting amicus curiae briefs and third-party interventions, turning theory into strategies ready for use.

The training also included members of TÜBAKKOM (Women’s Law Commission of the Union of Turkish Bar Associations), whose nationwide role in coordinating women’s rights commissions will ensure that the knowledge and skills gained in Antalya have a multiplier effect: reinforcing sustainability and spreading strategic litigation tools across Türkiye.

The action “Fostering women's access to justice in Türkiye” is part of the European Union and Council of Europe’s joint programme "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye“. It contributes to enhancing accessibility and quality of legal aid services for women and supporting key stakeholders, including civil society, as well as increasing legal awareness and literacy among women in Türkiye.
