66 primary and secondary teachers from nine pilot schools involved in the joint European Union/Council of Europe action “Quality education for all” in Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the second of a series of capacity building sessions strengthening teachers’ capacities and enabling schools to become resource centres for democratic culture.
The capacity building which took place from 22 to 26 January 2024 in Mostar focused on models of critical thinking as well as tools, instruments and practical examples related to the Reference Framework of the Competences for Democratic Culture (RFCDC). The methodical training is part of a series of capacity building organised during the 2023/2024 school year and follows an introductory training held from 22 to 27 October 2023 in Igman where teachers were introduced to the basics of the Framework.
As stressed by the participants who actively and creatively took part in the sessions, the success of each student is measured by the success and willingness of the teacher to improve his or her skills and competences. In this view, the action will continue to support the schools through further activities, mentorships, field visits and didactic materials with the aim of deepening their understanding of the RFCDC, building expertise in the school, and providing opportunities to develop activity plans while creating and sharing good practices in their communities, including with other schools.
The action “Quality education for all” is part of the joint European Union and Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye”.
