Methodological approach:
The methodology for the ex-post evaluation comprised a series of interlinked research tasks. In summary these comprised:
1) Desk research based on documentation concerning YFEJ and other relevant policies and schemes;
2) Key stakeholder consultations with those with a role in YFEJ or related schemes at the EU level;
3) Telephone consultations with YFEJ round 2 project stakeholders and follow-on liaison to gather additional data and evidence;
4) Visits to round 3 projects including a range of stakeholder interviews and follow-on liaison to gather additional data and evidence;
5) An online survey of YFEJ participants which received 136 responses;
6) Analysis of qualitative and quantitative data;
7) Cost benefit analysis of the YFEJ preparatory action.
