Three new pilot courts join efforts for more efficient justice in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Three new courts- the Basic Court in Modriča and the Municipal Courts in Žepče and Mostar, have joined the court coaching programme of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) aimed at strengthening the efficiency and quality of justice in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

With their inclusion, the  network of pilot courts now includes eight first-instance courts across Bosnia and Herzegovina. The newly engaged courts have shown strong interest in cooperation and are ready to apply CEPEJ tools and methodology to further improve their performance and services to citizens.

The initial assessment visits to the recently nominated courts are taking place from 22 to 24 October 2025. These visits will allow to map the existing court practices and open discussions with the court management, judges and non-judge staff with the aim to develop tailored recommendations to improve the efficiency and quality of justice.

This activity was organised by CEPEJ action “HFIII: HF 4 - Strengthening the Efficiency and Quality of Justice in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiHSEJ)”, which is part of the joint programme entitled "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye III", co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
