The working group created by the Ministry of Education to develop the Law on academic integrity met in Tivat on 19-20 June 2018. The final version of the text before its submission to the Government for adoption was discussed. The group reviewed the comments and suggestions received in writing and through round table events following the public consultation period which ran until 15 June 2018.
During the meeting, all the feedback was discussed and the majority of the suggestions were taken into consideration and some were included in the text. The task of the Working Group was not easy given the complexity and sensitivity of the issues and the lack of existing similar legislation, at least within the European context. In most of the countries reviewed, provisions related to academic integrity are scattered throughout different laws and regulations.
The consolidated version of the draft law is now with the Ministry and Government legislative bodies for technical and legal editing.
The Council of Europe, through the Action “Strengthen Integrity and Combat Corruption in Higher Education” is providing technical assistance in developing the law and has been since the very beginning.
