On Friday, 10 November at 9h00, an international seminar on good practices for establishing a State compensation scheme accessible to victims of trafficking in human beings will take place at the Marriott hotel in Skopje. The international seminar is jointly organized by the Council of Europe and the Ministry of Justice, and supported by the Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey, a cooperative programmatic framework of the European Union and the Council of Europe, that is co-funded by the EU and CoE and implemented by the CoE.

At the conference, welcoming addresses will be delivered by:

• Mr Bilen Saliji, Minister of Justice
• Magdalena Nestorovska National Coordinator for fight against human trafficking and illegal migration 
• Jaromir Levicek, Head of Operations 1 Section, ЕU Delegation
• Monica Martinez, Head of Operations, EU/CoE Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey, Council of Europe Programme Office in Skopje

The aim of the seminar is to bring together relevant stakeholders, both public authorities and civil society actors, to discuss models of state compensation schemes accessible to victims of trafficking in human beings or specifically set up for such victims, as well as to assess weaknesses and strengths of different models of state compensation schemes. It will provide a platform for exchanging experiences from different professional perspectives and examining the modalities for setting up a state compensation scheme accessible to victims of trafficking in the country.
