“Local policies and measures need to provide an appropriate and sufficient financial response to ensure better and more comprehensive Roma integration” - this was a key message at the training session on Roma Responsive Budgeting at local level, which was organised for the first time ever for 12 municipal officials from the ROMACTED partner municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
As part of the regional synergy with the Roma Integration project from the Regional Cooperation Council, the two-day training session was jointly organised at Jahorina on 15 and 16 June 2022. The Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees was actively involved in the design and delivery of the training session.
The aim of the session was to introduce the concept of Roma Responsive Budgeting and launch the discussion on the appropriate budgeting for implementation of Roma integration goals at the local level. This event once again confirmed ROMACTED’s commitment towards strengthening and building up political will and sustained policy engagement to enhance democratic local governance and more inclusive budget planning at local level.
In the upcoming period, the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue joining efforts in this process with the ROMACTED Programme.
