Representatives of 12 municipalities and Roma Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) convened at a joint event facilitated by the ROMACTED II Programme and the Roma Integration III, marking a significant step towards collaboration and empowerment. With over 50 participants, supported by the National Roma Contact Point, the event provided a unique opportunity for the stakeholders to reflect on their work and plan future steps together.
The first day of the event was dedicated to the ROMACTED II Advisory Group meeting, where 12 municipalities showcased exemplary initiatives and innovative approaches that have made a tangible difference in Roma communities’ lives. Achievements presented included improvements in access to education and health services, housing and infrastructure, cultural preservation and heritage promotion, empowerment, employment, and Roma Responsive Budgeting. The accomplishments are a testament to the progress being made through the ROMACTED II Programme, and by building upon these achievements, municipalities can further advance Roma inclusion, creating a future where all citizens, regardless of background, have equal opportunities to thrive and succeed.
The second day centered on the Roma Integration III project, providing participants with its objectives, strategies, and upcoming activities at the national level. Additionally, they received training on a monitoring tool to track the progress of integration efforts and evaluate impact effectively. This event aimed to equip municipal officials with the necessary knowledge and tools to support positive change within their communities regarding Roma integration.
Through targeted sessions, discussions, and an interactive approach, participants delved into the complexities of data collection, exploring best practices, identifying potential barriers, and brainstorming innovative solutions. By fostering an environment of collaboration and knowledge-sharing, the event catalyzed renewed commitment and action towards Roma inclusion both at the local and national levels.
