The EU-Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP) covers seven countries: Austria, France (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur), Germany (Baden Wuerttemberg and Bavaria), Italy (Bozen Autonomous Province; Friuli Venezia Giulia, Liguria, Lombardy, Piedmont, Trento Autonomous Province, Valle d'Aosta, Veneto), Slovenia, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.

The implementation of the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP) is based on the Action Groups (AG). Project proposals should contribute to AG 2 and/or 6:

  • Action Group 2 "To increase the economic potential of strategic sectors” overall mission is to identify key Alpine economic sectors which would beneficiate from action at macro-regional level, and to implement concrete measures to strengthen their economic and social environment. The added value will be to lead to a better utilization of Alpine specific resources and develop potential in the identified strategic sectors with a special focus on the development opportunities for SMEs within the Alpine Macro Region. Health Tourism has been identified as one of the thematic priorities.
  • Action Group 6 “To preserve and valorize natural resources, including water and cultural resources” overall mission is to provide valuable contributions to an Alpine strategic framework that allows the establishment of sustainable and balanced models of resource management and production. Thus Action Group 6 aims at preserving and sustainably valorizing the Alpine natural and cultural heritage to enable also future generations to enjoy the unique living space of the Alps.

The four calls for proposals are launched in the framework of the joint programme of the European Commission and Council of Europe “Routes4U”. Project proposals shall produce an added value to the Council of Europe and the European Commission’s efforts in the domain of Cultural Routes and macro-regional strategies. They shall help enhancing the common identity within the respective macro-regional strategies.

  • Implementation period: 15 March 2019 until 1 October 2019
  • Budget: 10 000 (ten thousand) euros per grant
  • Eligibility criteria: Be the legally constituted body in charge of a network certified “Cultural Route of the Council of Europe”
  • Deadline for application: 4 February 2019. The  application must be submitted to [email protected].
