In the framework of the European Year of Cultural Heritage (EYCH), the European Parliament Committee on Culture and Education (CULT) held a meeting on "European Cultural Heritage", organised around three thematic areas:

  • Culture and Identity;
  • Preservation, Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage; and
  • Cultural Heritage and Education

The event brought together Members of the European Parliament (MEP), members of national parliaments, EYCH national coordinators and stakeholders to discuss heritage legislation, share experiences and explore future actions and ideas on how to ensure a long-term legacy for the EYCH beyond 2018. Constanze Metzger, Routes4U Senior Project Officer, presented the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe programme and the Routes4U Project as tools to strengthen sustainable regional development through heritage.
