A total of 170 prison staff benefitted from eight 1-day cascade training sessions on treatment of violent offenders in prisons, organised in the period 15-22 February 2018 in the Training Center Idrizovo, Strumica and in Bitola. The cascade sessions further built the capacities of prison staff with view of improving the treatment of violent offenders through the introduction and implementation of a specific module for their treatment.
The sessions were delivered by national trainers, staff of the country’s penitentiary system, who were involved in the development of the module and have already been trained as trainers within the scope of the Action. The module will be piloted in the largest prison in the country, namely Idrizovo prison, in the upcoming period.
The cascade training sessions were organised within the scope of the Action “Strengthening the protection of the rights of sentenced persons”, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe within the “Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey” programme and implemented by the Council of Europe.
