In the framework of the continuous assistance to the judicial authorities in enhancing the efficiency and quality of the justice system, the EU and Council of Europe KOSEJIII action in co-ordination with the Academy of Justice organised in Albania a capacity building activity for Court Presidents and Chief Prosecutors on using statistical reports and dashboards generated by the case management information system (CMIS) to make informed and data-driven decisions. The training was conducted by experienced experts from the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) and focused on performance indicators and monitoring essential statistics to identify deficiencies in the functioning of courts and prosecution offices. The second day of the workshop was dedicated to case weighting, cyber-justice and mediation, where experts shared important knowledge and experience on the best practices and European standards in the field.

Court Presidents and Chief Prosecutors had the opportunity to use the CEPEJ performance indicators by analysing real statistics from their respective courts and prosecution offices. They discussed important issues related to day-to-day court and case management as well as measures to address backlogs.

The participants expressed a high level of interest in discussing concrete measures to increase efficiency in courts and prosecution offices and make proceedings more transparent and predictable to citizens.

This activity was organised in the framework of the action on ‘Strengthening the quality and efficiency of justice in Kosovo* (KOSEJ III) funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe under the Council of Europe under the Horizontal Facility III programme.
