Strengthening capacities of the Judicial Training Centre to deliver training on procedural safeguards

A training of trainers on procedural safeguards in criminal proceedings was organised in Budva, with the aim to strengthen the capacities of domestic trainers (judges and prosecutors) to deliver training on procedural rights and to ensure their short-term and long-term evaluation.

The training materials on procedural rights were developed in close co-operation with the Judicial Training Centre for legal professionals (judges, prosecutors and lawyers) to effectively apply procedural rights standards in their daily work.

In the coming months, cascade trainings on procedural rights will be organised under the auspices of the Judicial Training Centre, thus strengthening further its capacities for the delivery of the training, and for the evaluation of impact of the training activities. The component on evaluation of the training should be inspired by the Methodology and Tools for Evaluation of Human Rights Trainings developed with, and promoted within the Judicial Training Centre of Montenegro (version in English and in Montenegrin).

The training was organised within the framework of the action "Improved procedural safeguards in judicial proceedings in Montenegro", which is a part of the joint European Union and Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”.
