Towards more consistent judicial practice in Serbia

As many as 60 judges, judicial assistants and court staff across Serbia have strengthened their capacity to use the electronic case-law database, supporting more consistent application of the law and greater legal certainty, through a series of trainings organised with the support of the Supreme Court.

The final training session in the series was held in Belgrade on 18 June 2026, focusing on practical aspects of using the electronic case-law database, including data entry, search functions and the application of relevant judicial decisions in daily judicial work.

Participants had the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and practical skills related to the efficient use of the database, which serves as an important tool for improving access to case law and promoting more consistent application of law.

Today’s training marked the final session in a series of four trainings organised in courts across Serbia to support the use of the electronic case-law database. The inclusion of court decisions, particularly in areas relevant to the harmonisation of judicial practice, contributes to greater legal certainty, transparency and consistency in judicial decision-making.

The activity was organised within the action “Strengthening legal culture in Serbia and capacities of the judicial and the prosecutorial councils”, implemented under the joint programme of the European Union and the Council of Europe, Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye.
