The third meeting of the Advisory Board of the joint European Union (EU) and Council of Europe action "Quality education for all" in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) took place online on the 1 July 2024. The meeting was opened by Adnan Husić, Assistant Minister from the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH and Fermin Cordoba, Political Advisor and Team Co-ordinator from of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH.

Representatives of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH and the Council of Europe emphasised the importance of continuing the effective implementation of the Policy recommendations with a Roadmap for improving inclusive education adopted by the Council of Ministers of BiH in September 2020 which seeks to support, inspire and stimulate concrete changes both on the policy level and on the school level. They also referred to the ongoing process of the development of Action Plans led by international actors active in the field of education (including the EU, UN, OSCE and the Council of Europe) based on several strategic documents, including the Roadmap. As part of this joint initiative the action is supporting the Policy Network’s co-ordination and development of the final Action plans, in line with the action’s outcome related to the enhanced co-ordination of relevant ministries and other relevant stakeholders in developing the educational vision and goals in BiH.

Members of the Advisory Board were briefed on the activities carried out over the past six months, including a series of capacity building sessions for teachers and mentorship for nine pilot schools that will become resource centers for democratic school culture. A total of 106 teachers, school leaders, and other school staff from nine pilot schools have been equipped with essential tools for promoting democratic culture.

The action “Quality education for all” is part of the joint European Union and Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye”.
