On 24 November 2016, the Joint Programme of the European Union and Council of Europe “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey” (Horizontal Facility) in Montenegro will be launched at the Hilton Hotel, Podgorica.
The event will focus on the six Actions under the Horizontal Facility programme to be implemented in Montenegro from May 2016 to April 2019. They aim to assist the authorities of Montenegro in implementing key recommendations of the Council of Europe of importance in the European Union enlargement process, in the areas of ensuring justice, combating economic crime, as well as anti-discrimination and the protection of the rights of vulnerable groups.
The speakers at the launching event will be H.E. Ambassador Aivo Orav, the Head of Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro and Ms Pilar Morales Fernández-Shaw, the Head of Programming Department of the Council of Europe. The President of the Constitutional Court of Montenegro, President of the Supreme Court, Chief State Prosecutor, Minister of Education, Deputy Minister of Justice and Director of the Agency for Anti-Corruption will speak at the event as representatives of the State institutions that will benefit from the forthcoming Actions under the Horizontal Facility. Representatives of civil society and international organisations will also attend the event.
The conference will start at 9:30 on Thursday, 24 November 2016, at the Hilton Hotel in Podgorica. The event is fully open to the media. Interviews can be arranged upon request.
