Ensuring quality education for all

The main goal of the Horizontal Facility education actions has remained unchanged since the beginning of the programme – nurturing inclusive, discrimination-free environment in schools, where democratic culture and education for democratic citizenship are equally valued by students, teachers, parents, and broader communities. The programme has been supporting authorities, civil society organisations, local communities, schools, students, and their parents in achieving the aforementioned goal.

66 primary and secondary teachers from nine pilot schools, involved in the action “Quality education for all” in Bosnia and Herzegovina, participated in the capacity building session. The session aimed to strengthen the capacity of teachers and enable schools to become resource centres for democratic culture.

A pivotal expert meeting, focusing on further improvement of educational standards in Serbia, was held in February. The event, specifically targeting higher education institutions, focused on introducing the Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture into the Serbian higher education system.

In an effort to foster democratic education across the region, educators from Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia gathered at the regional conference "Schools as driving force for democracy". The conference provided a platform for sharing regional experiences in fostering an environment of democracy, transparency, and integrity in schools.
