Supporting the fight against economic crime in North Macedonia through advancing information management and analytical capacities

With the aim to enhance the ability to uncover vital information and track criminal networks a capacity building activity was organised with law enforcement agencies in North Macedonia, including representatives of the National Co-ordination Center, Financial Police, Ministry of Interior, Financial Intelligence Office, Customs Office, Public Prosecutor’s Office Over the four-days, officers  learned advanced techniques for data visualisation, entity extraction, and data integration, equipping them with the necessary skills to tackle complex cases more effectively. The participants  learned more about the use of the i2 Analyst Notebook software to support them in the process of fighting economic crime.

Furthermore, on 16th of June, an assessment meeting was held with representatives of the National Coordination Center within the Ministry of Interior to further improve the utilization of iBase and Analyst Notebook, aiming to enhance information management and analytical capacities. The meeting focused on optimising iBase as a source of information and strengthening its connectivity with other systems, while also prioritizing advanced training and techniques for analysts using Analyst Notebook.

This activity was organised by ‘Action against economic crime in North Macedonia’, within the framework of the European Union/Council of Europe joint Programme Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye (Horizontal Facility III), co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
