Seminar on Council of Europe Conventions in the field of criminal law for a delegation of Uzbekistan

A delegation of thirteen representatives of Uzbek public institutions have participated in a Seminar on the Council of Europe Conventions at the Council of Europe Headquarters in Strasbourg (France), on 24 – 26 April 2024.

The delegation was composed of representatives of the General Prosecutor's Office, the Supreme Court, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the State Law University, the Human Rights Representative of the Oliy Majlis (Ombudsman), and the Tashkent City Prosecutor's Office.

During the seminar, a particular focus was put on Council of Europe Conventions on mutual legal assistance, extradition, data protection, cybercrime, trafficking in human beings, anti-money laundering and financing of terrorism, and on the protection of children against sexual exploitation and sexual abuse.

The participants had extensive exchanges with the Secretariat of the Council of Europe, which deepened their knowledge of these Council of Europe legal instruments. In particular, the discussions underlined the commitments and benefits of accession for the national system and the ongoing reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan.

This seminar follows a series of exchanges held in the framework of a first seminar organised in 2022.

This seminar was organised in the framework of the Central Asia Rule of Law Programme 2020-2024 co-funded by the Council of Europe and the European Union and implemented by the Council of Europe.
