The Youth Partnership will continue providing added value, in a balanced way, to the partner institutions’ initiatives, with research, expertise and knowledge gathering, including through its Pool of European Youth Researchers (PEYR) on an as needed basis, as agreed upon the partner institutions and in line with the human and financial resources available.

 

Initiatives and processes of the European Commission for 2024-2025

EU Youth Dialogue and other processes and events related to the implementation of the EU Youth Strategy workplans 2022-2024 and 2025-2027 and the legacy of the European Year of Youth:

  • Follow up of the Communication on the achievements and ways forward of the European Year of Youth to be adopted by end 2023;
    • Launch of the youth stakeholder platform;
    • Commission Youth Network;
  • Interim evaluation of the EU Youth Strategy to be adopted Q1 2024 (Commission report and external evaluation);
  • Adoption of the learning mobility framework (November 2023);
  • Follow-up of the Communication: A comprehensive approach to mental health from the Commission adopted in June 2023;
  • Commission annual work programme 2024 and 2025;
  • European Youth Week, April 2024;
  • Mid-term evaluations of the EU youth programmes by end 2024;
  • A new push for European democracy: youth participation and especially the first voters’ participation in the European elections 2024.

 

Initiatives and processes of the Council of Europe for 2024-2025

Beyond the integration of a youth perspective in the work of the organisation (see Activity 1 – Youth participation in policy making, youth perspective and youth mainstreaming), the Council of Europe’s priorities and initiatives for 2024-2025 include the following (non-exhaustive list):

  • Draft Committee of Ministers Recommendation on rural youth;
  • Feasibility study on a draft Recommendation on peace education in non-formal education and youth work;
  • Mid-term review of the Council of Europe Youth sector strategy 2030;
  • Follow-up to the conclusions of the review of Recommendation CM/Rec(2017)4 on youth work, taking into consideration the European Youth Work Agenda process;
  • Review of the Recommendation CM/Rec(2022)6 on protecting youth civil society and young people, and supporting their participation in democratic processes;
  • Exploration of the feasibility of a Committee of ministers Recommendation on the role of Local Youth Councils, to complement Recommendation REC(2006)1 on the role of National Youth Councils, to be started in 2024-2025.
