Teachers take first steps to become certified trainers on the Competences for democratic culture

Ten teachers from primary and secondary schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) participated in the Training of trainers for teachers from Resource centers organised within the joint European Union/Council of Europe action “Quality education for all” from 2 to 4 July.

This group of teachers who during the 2023/2024 school year had passed a series of trainings including on the Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture (RFCDC), critical thinking and values, as well as on adequate methods and tools to improve democratic school culture in their classrooms, were selected to further enhance their capacities to disseminate the acquired knowledge, practices and skills in their communities including with their peers and other schools in their areas. These future experts will also take part in the second cycle of capacity building sessions during the next school year helping new pilot schools to transform them into resource centres for democratic culture.

The training of trainers was led by experts from the Center for Educational Initiatives “Step by Step” who prepared and delivered a tailor-made programme focusing on both the theoretical approach as well use of didactical materials, examples of good practices, including simulations and reflections with concrete feedback to participants on how to improve their skills and trainer competences for the RFCDC.

The action “Quality education for all” is part of the joint European Union and Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye”.
