First 100 lawyers & legal professionals from North Macedonia trained on anti-discrimination

The authorities and key actors in the field of anti-discrimination in North Macedonia are working with the EU and Council of Europe in their efforts to fight inequalities and combat discrimination in line with the European standards and key recommendations set by the Council of Europe monitoring bodies. The recently adopted Law on Prevention and Protection from Discrimination constituted an important step forward to ensure a more efficient human rights protection regime for its citizens.

With the aim to help Macedonian lawyers and legal professionals in the implementation of the new law and in the process of addressing legal cases of discrimination, the first HELP online course on Anti-Discrimination was launched on 25 January 2021 in co-operation with the Macedonian Bar Association for more than 100 Macedonian lawyers and legal professionals in the field.

Given  the high interest among legal professionals, the HELP online course will be launched for a second group of lawyers on 8 February 2021 with the aim to provide important knowledge and make the course accessible to as many professionals in the field as possible. The free HELP online course is available in the HELP online platform in several languages, including English and Macedonian.

The implementation of the HELP online course on Anti-Discrimination comes as a joint initiative of the actions on “Promotion of Diversity and Equality in North Macedonia” and “HELP in the Western Balkans” part of the European Union and Council of Europe joint programme "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022.
