Representatives from the Commission for Prevention and Protection against Discrimination in North Macedonia met their counterparts in Republic of Croatia in a study visit which aimed to share experiences and learn more about their approach regarding prevention and protection against discrimination.

The meetings which took place in Zagreb were focused on the legal framework, processing of complaints and related cases, including court processes, as well as data collection practices. Co-operation with other institutions, and the implementation of the EU Directives, ECRI Recommendations and other European standards were also part of the discussions.

During their study visit, the representatives of the Commission for Prevention and Protection against Discrimination in North Macedonia met with representatives from the Ombudswoman of Croatia, Ombudsperson for Gender Equality and Ombudsman for Persons with Disability including Tena Šimonović Einwalter, Ombudswoman of Croatia, Kristijan Knezevic, Deputy Ombudsperson for Gender Equality and Mira Pekeč Knežević, Deputy Ombudsman for People with Disability.

The study visit was organised with the support of the action “Combating hatred and intolerance in North Macedonia” in the process of strengthening the capacities of the Commission for Prevention and Protection against Discrimination and further support the work of the equality bodies in North Macedonia.
