Celebrating Pride and Standing Up for Equality – IDAHOT kicks off in Albania

The International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT) will be marked in Albania during a vibrant month-long series of events, celebrating diversity, equality, and the rights of LGBTI people. Under the theme “Side by Side!”, the European Union and the Council of Europe's joint action on Advancing the protection from discrimination in Albania, along with the Council of Europe’s Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC) Unit, as every year, are supporting local organisations in Albania in the field of human rights protection in launching 15 promotional events under this year’s slogan.

This year also marks the 16th Festival of Diversity with a rich calendar of activities throughout May including exhibitions, discussions, performances, and community activities. They will reflect a strong and united stance against discrimination and hatred, while raising awareness of everyone's right to live with dignity and pride.

The highlight of the celebrations will be Tirana Price on 24 May at 11:00, a public gathering in the heart of the capital at Reja (The cloud). This joyful and powerful event calls for inclusion, solidarity, and equal rights for all - side by side.

This Pride Month, IDAHOT is sending a strong and loud message from Albania: 'Everyone deserves to live free from fear, prejudice, and discrimination'.
