Staff members of regional offices of the Ministry of Justice had an opportunity to learn about training techniques and the changes in the free legal aid to be introduced by a new Law on Free Legal Aid. Together with representatives of civil society organisations and the Bar Association they participated in a four-day Training of trainers session, that took place 11-14 December in Skopje.
A team of international and national trainers led the training sessions. The sessions covered the train-the-trainer concept including adult learning and learning theories. The sessions also included practical exercises and tools to make participants better acquainted with the specifics of legal aid provision under the new Law.
In 2019, the participants of the training of trainers session will further deliver cascade trainings to their colleagues from regional offices and representatives of CSOs and other stakeholders involved in the free legal aid system.
The session was organised within the action “Support to legal aid reforms”, which is part of the programme "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey", co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
