Back Training for the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors

Training for the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors

A five-day training of trainers on Article 5 of the European Convention on Human Rights which protects the right to liberty and security, was organised on 29 January-2 February 2018 in Gevgelija, "the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" for ten judges and prosecutors, as future trainers of the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors. This training enhanced their knowledge on Article 5, through modern interactive teaching methods, which will be applied by the Academy in future trainings.

Considering the fact that some of them had already participated in previous training of trainers on Article 3, this event was also an opportunity to strengthen their capacities in adult training methodology when delivering trainings on human rights curriculum.

Comprehensive training materials were developed, translated together with relevant case studies and distributed to the participants during the training. These materials will be fully incorporated by the Academy and will be used for future related trainings.

As of March 2018, judges and prosecutors who have benefitted from the training will start conducting trainings on Article 5 to their peers, as part of the Academy’s training programme.

This activity was organised within the Project “Increasing judicial capacity to safeguard human rights and combat ill-treatment and impunity”, as part of the “Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey”.
