The European Union and the Council of Europe are supporting the capacities of the High Inspector of Justice (HIJ) in Albania with the methodology for preparing and conducting classic thematic inspection missions, based on best European standards and practices.
Participating in a training seminar organised in Tirana, with the joint expertise and contribution of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ) and the EU4Justice Project, 35 HIJ staff learned from the French and Romanian experiences on thematic inspections.
A coached inspection in the Prosecution Office of Durrës, which was facilitated by the international experts supplied follow up exchanges and recommendations for the preparation of a Guide on thematic inspections.
This activity follows previous training seminars on European standards on judicial inspection aiming to enhance the capacities of Albanian HIJ Inspectors and Assistant Inspectors.
The activity was organized in the frame of the action Strengthening the Quality and Efficiency of Justice in Albania (SEJ IV), part of the European Union/Council of Europe joint programme the Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye (Horizontal Facility III), co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
