Assessing capacities of Montenegrin State Audit Institution for detecting corruption and fraud and enforcement of recommendations

Within the joint European Union/Council of Europe Action against economic crime in Montenegro, an assessment mission with regards to State Audit Institutions’ capacities for detecting fraud and corruption cases and enforcement of its recommendations to audited entities took place on 1 April 2021.

The objective of this assessment mission was to collect information on existing issues in communication exchange between the State Audit Institutions (SAI) and Montenegrin Parliament, the effectiveness of SAI’s recommendations, its capacities to detect fraud and corruption and methods of communication with the prosecution. Collected information will be used for the development of guidelines including key findings, as well as a manual for detection and processing of cases of fraud and corruption through audit procedures.

The Action against economic crime in Montenegro is a part of the joint European Union/Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”.
