Workshops for civil society organisations, attorneys and regional offices of the Ministry of Justice in North Macedonia

Four workshops were held in four cities in North Macedonia, on 6, 8, 9 and 10 May. The first workshop gathered civil society organisations and attorneys, while the remaining three were organised for regional offices of the Ministry of Justice.

One international and one national consultant developed a tool for the Ministry of Justice for processing of free legal aid applications aimed at ensuring consistency and efficiency. They also designed instruments for measuring quality of legal aid as well as complaint mechanisms for all stakeholders. Each instrument has been underpinned by an in-depth consultations with all key players in the system and the legal aid applicants. They are based on putting the most marginalised at the centre of the free legal aid applicants.

The sessions were organised within the action “Support to legal aid reforms", which is part of the programme "Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey", co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe.
