Through the support of the European Union and the Council of Europe, the Guide to the European Court of Human Rights' Case-Law on Data Protection is made available in Serbian language, providing insight into data protection standards. The cited case-law has been selected among the leading, major, and/or recent judgments and decisions, holding profound significance in today's evolving digital landscape.

This translation of the European Court of Human Rights’ (ECtHR) Case-Law Guide aims to foster a comprehensive understanding of the critical relationship between data privacy and freedom of expression, especially in view of technological advancements.  The intersection of freedom of expression and the right to privacy is a fundamental and complex issue, particularly within the context of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), which guarantees the right to freedom of expression, and simultaneously recognises the right to respect for private and family life, including one's privacy.

The availability of the ECtHR's Case Law Guide in the Serbian language reflects a concerted effort to assist the Office of the Commissioner for Access to Information and Personal Data Protection in Serbia.

This initiative is supported under the action “Protecting freedom of expression and of the media (PROFREX) in Serbia”, a part of the joint European Union and the Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye”.
