Representatives of pedagogical institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) including the Republican Pedagogical Institute of Republika Srpska, cantonal pedagogical institutes as well as the Pedagogical Institution of Brčko District participated in the joint meeting organised by the joint European Union and the Council of Europe action “Quality education for all” on 18 May in Jahorina. The main aim of the meeting was to present the new phase of the project for quality education in BiH to the pedagogical institutions and to discuss their role in the implementation process.
The meeting was an opportunity to discuss further dissemination of the Reference Framework on the Competences for Democratic Culture (RFCDC) aiming to strengthen and further support the development of democratic school culture. The European Union and the Council of Europe will support the implementation of trainings for teachers and school staff in 9 pilot schools across BiH during the 2023/2024 school year. The meeting also focused on providing support for the effective implementation of the Policy recommendations with a Roadmap for improving inclusive education adopted by the education authorities in BiH on all levels.
Pedagogical institutions are the key link between the policy level and the schools and can ensure sustainable support for teachers, students and the wider community to raise the quality of education based on European standards. Following the discussion, the representatives of the pedagogical institutions agreed to hold their next meeting in June together with the pilot schools and the Council of Europe to agree on the next steps of the implementation process.
This action is part of the joint European Union and Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Türkiye”.
