In this edition of Highlights, we present the main publications produced under the framework of the Horizontal Facility III programme with an aim to enhance knowledge and bring European standards in various areas closer to the beneficiaries in the Western Balkans and in Türkiye.
For the first time, a dictionary to promote inclusive language in addressing disability in Albania is now available, with the support of the European Union and the Council of Europe, in co-operatoion with SeBashku Foundation. The dictionary provides important guidance on using respectful and empowering terminology when discussing disability. Rather than focusing on a person's abilities or disabilities, the dictionary encourages the use of a positive language, that focuses on the empowerment and dignity of the individual.
“Aligning domestic practices with European case law” is a new publication to support Albanian legal professionals in upholding human rights standards. This Handbook represents an invaluable asset for legal professionals in advancing justice and equality, in line with European standards. A new awareness raising initiative in Montenegro is putting the spotlight on free legal aid available to victims of human trafficking. An important part of this initiative are multilingual informational leaflets designed to inform victims about their legal rights.
In the framework of the public awareness raising initiative “Maybe you are also involved in labour exploitation” implemented in North Macedonia, a series of informational and promotional materials were produced, including four Guides on preventing labour exploitation targeting industries the most prone to labour exploitation, such as the agriculture, the civil construction, the tourism and hospitality. The initiative aims to contribute towards prevention and eradication of human trafficking for labour exploitation by emphasising a social dialogue, information dissemination, and consultation with workers, while promoting ethical labour practices and workers’ rights.
