Launch of the EU/CoE Central Asia Rule of Law Programme

The Council of Europe and the European Union officially launched a regional joint programme in Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) on 28 November 2019 at the occasion of the EU Regional Conference on Enhanced Integration for Prosperity in Central Asia.

This programme aims at facilitating the creation of a common legal space between Europe and Central Asia and enhancing human rights protection; promoting transparency and action against economic crime as well as fostering good governance through the efficient functioning of state institutions and public administration.

Co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe, the programme is expected to last four years (2020-2023) and have the total budget of 8 888 000 EUR.
