Kazakhstan: International Round Table “The evolution of constitutional control in the context of societal and state transformation

Representatives of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe will contribute to the international round table, which will take place on 26th August 2022 in hybrid format in Almaty and Nur-Sultan. The event is organised by the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan to celebrate the Constitution Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of the Central Asia Rule of Law Programme 2020-2023.

The round table entitled “The evolution of constitutional control in the context of societal and state transformation" will focus on models and legal regulation of constitutional complaints, constitutional proceedings, and the execution of the constitutional review bodies’ decisions. High level international speakers will contribute to the discussions, among which the Presidents of the Constitutional Courts and Councils of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan and Venice Commission’s experts from Armenia, Croatia, Georgia and Korea.

The event will be opened by the President of the Constitutional Council of Kazakhstan, Mr Kairat Mami, joint by Mr Vladimir Vardanyan, Member of the Venice Commission on behalf of Armenia, Ms Frauke Bachler, General Director of the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ) as well as the European Union Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Mr Kestutis Jankauskas.
 

The Central Asia Rule of Law Programme 2020-2023 is co-funded by the Council of Europe and the European Union and implemented by the Council of Europe.
