Back MEDIA ADVISORY: closing event for media and internet freedom projects in Georgia

On 17 December 2017, the closing event of the EU/Council of Europe joint programmes “Promoting freedom, professionalism and pluralism of the media” and “Protecting internet freedom through legislation and arrangements for multi-stakeholder dialogue” will take place in Tbilisi. The event will gather the project stakeholders in order to discuss results and achievements of the projects and thank its counterparts for their fruitful cooperation.

The event starts at 10h00 and will take place in Radisson Blu Hotel, Tbilisi, Georgia. There will be English-Georgian interpretation.

The EU/Council of Europe joint projects “Promoting freedom, professionalism and pluralism of the media” and “Protecting internet freedom through legislation and arrangements for multi-stakeholder dialogue” were launched in January 2015.  The project “Promoting freedom, professionalism and pluralism of the media” aimed at improving professionalism and responsibility among media representatives and strengthen the independence of the broadcasting regulatory bodies and the public service broadcasters. The project “Protecting internet freedom through legislation and arrangements for multi-stakeholder dialogue” aimed at increasing compliance of national legal frameworks and policies concerning the internet with Council of Europe standards on freedom of expression and awareness of internet users about available remedies and redress when human rights online are violated.
