Specific project's objectives:
  • To increase school staff capacity in working and supporting pupils with learning and developmental disabilities in everyday school activities
  • To reduce prejudices and improve inclusiveness of school culture through education of parents 
  • To improve teaching and learning practices by increasing school library fund
  • To promote peer education and inclusion of pupils
  • To remove architectural barriers
Project’s main activities:
Capacity building of school staff working with children with disabilities:
  • Four trainings for three groups of teaching staff;
    • - Training for research assistants;
    • - Training for support staff;
    • - Training for parents;
    • - Individual programmes of providing support for pupils with disabilities;

Through this activity  the following topics will be covered:

  • - Inclusion, principles and legislature, attitudes, prejudices and stereotypes;
  • - Identification of pupils with learning and developmental disabilities, understanding certain special needs, evaluation and identification process, characteristics and evaluation of pupils` functional level;
  • - Teaching pupils with learning disabilities and participation in inclusive class – types and aspects of support;
  • - Providing support by improving learning skills, assistive technology, role of the teacher, augmentative and alternative communication, adapting individualized curriculum;
  • - Assessment;
  • - Managing a class with pupils with learning and developmental disabilities, cooperation with parents;
  • - Improving the Index for Inclusion – where the Index is taken as means of support for inclusive development, which relies on knowledge and experience school staff possesses and incites further school development

These activities will include:

  • - visual and media arts (film footage and photography),
  • - visual art workshops on applied arts (ornaments, embroidery, objects for daily use made of various materials);
Activities for more friendly and welcoming school environment
  • Removing architectural barriers
    • - Installation of elevator electronics will enable access for disabled persons to all school premises
  • Equipping school library
    • - Supply of professional literature in order to prepare implementation of inclusion through adapted curriculum, Appropriate literature will support preparation and development of individual educational plans
Project’s target groups
  • Direct beneficiaries: 30 pupils with special needs, pupils who are members of school art clubs/sections, 70 teachers, school support staff, school expert associates and at least 100 parents
  • Indirect beneficiaries: other school pupils (800) and parents, primary school pupils, other community members,  Employment Service
