Steering committee approves 2017 work plan to strengthen local governance in EaP

The 3rd Steering Committee meeting of the project “Strengthening institutional frameworks for local governance” in the Eastern Partnership countries under the EU/CoE Programmatic Cooperation Framework took place on 26 January 2017 in Strasbourg. The meeting was attended by the appointed members: representatives of the central authorities/line ministries responsible for local government reform in the participating countries, representatives of local governments – heads of delegations or members of the delegations to the Congress, national associations of local governments, as well as by the Council of Europe secretariat and project staff. Also, the Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to the Council of Europe attended the meeting.

The Committee approved the Annual report on the results achieved in 2016 and endorsed the Plan of Operations for 2017 with modifications proposed by the participants at the meeting.

In accordance with its Statute, the Steering Committee is set-up to provide strategic guidance aiming to ensure the successful implementation and transparency of the project, as well as create synergy between the actors involved in implementation of the project under the Programmatic Cooperation Framework (PCF) for 2015-2017 funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Council of Europe.
