Parliamentary conference on elections

The Venice Commission co-organised in cooperation with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the French National Assembly a conference on the implementation of the right to free elections. The challenge of implementing electoral legislation and compliance with standards of the Council of Europe were the central issues of the conference.

A two-day parliamentary conference will be held at the National Assembly in Paris on 4-5 June focusing on the right to free election, election legislation and Council of Europe standards in this matter. Members of national parliaments from the Eastern Partnership countries, and member States of the Council of Europe: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, will participate in this first conference on electoral issues in order to exchange their experiences in this matter and meet experts from the Venice Commission, other institutions of the Council of Europe, and representatives of other international organisations and NGOs. Representatives from Belarus will also participate.
