On 14 November 2017, the Council of Europe organised a training course on the European Social Charter (revised) legal standards for the staff and members of the Council for Prevention and Elimination of Discrimination and Ensuring Equality and for the staff of the Ombudsperson Office.

The training course, held in Chisinau, was delivered by the Council of Europe consultant Mr Dmitri Bartenev who familiarised the participants with this important Convention in the context of international and European human rights standards. Also, the participants were acquainted with the collective complaints mechanism under the European Social Charter (revised): impact on shaping human rights standards in Europe. The last session of the training was dedicated to the application of the Charter in the Moldovan context. The focus was on discrimination of vulnerable and stigmatized groups and the positive measures for combating discrimination.

The training was organised within the framework of the joint EU/CoE joint project “Supporting national efforts for prevention and combating discrimination in Moldova” which is part of the Partnership for Good Governance.
