Training seminar on Internet and Human Rights for journalists in Baku

One-day training seminar on Internet and Human Rights within the framework of the Council of Europe / European Union Joint Project  “Freedom of expression and media freedom in Azerbaijan”, implemented  under the CoE / EU Programme Partnership for Good Governance (PGG) took place on 19 July 2017 in Baku.

The training seminar  was organized in close cooperation with the Azerbaijani Press Council and Azerbaijan Internet Forum. The main aim of the training was to raise awareness on the Council of Europe standards on human rights protection on the Internet among journalists and media professionals, to promote online journalism, and to give the floor to open discussions.

International and local experts made presentations on the COE standards as well as national legislation and practice in the related field. 30 journalists and media professionals discussed the relevant case-law of the ECtHR in small groups during the case-study session and made their presentations.   The Recommendation CM/Rec(2014)6 of the Committee of Ministers to member States on a Guide to human rights for Internet users translated into Azerbaijani and printed within the Project was disseminated among the participants.
