Second group meeting for the development of the online course on prevention of torture standards

On 12 and 13 November 2018 the second working group for the development of an online Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) course on European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) standards was held at the Council of Europe premises in Strasbourg.

The HELP course on CPT standards will be used to train a wide range of professionals in Georgia and other pilot countries. The members of the working group, which include current and former CPT members, delivered short presentations about their respective contributions and agreed on a first draft of the model course outline and format, overall learning objectives and changes to be made in the respective contributions and on the list of multimedia tools to be added.

The working group meeting was organised jointly by the HELP Programme and the CPT Secretariat of the Council of Europe, within the joint project “Strengthening the Application of the European Convention on Human Rights in Georgia”, under the framework Partnership for Good Governance, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe, and implemented by the Council of Europe.
