A two-day Round table on Freedom of Expression: Safety of Journalists, Gender Equality and Media will be held on 17-18 December in Baku. The round table will be organized in cooperation with the Ombudsman Office, State Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs and Azerbaijani Press Council. The main aim of the round table is to raise awareness on the right to freedom of expression in the context of safety of journalists, gender equality and media, to promote the safety of journalists and gender equality in the media, and to give the floor to open discussions.

International and local experts will make presentations on the Council of Europe standards and European best practices as well as domestic legislation and practice in the related fields. Broad discussions on freedom of expression will take place in the round table. 30 journalists (including 5 journalists from the regions), media professionals and representatives of civil society will attend the event.  

This event is part of the European Union/Council of Europe project on Freedom of Expression and Media Freedom in Azerbaijan
