Efficiency of Courts in Azerbaijan

The meeting of the Steering Committee for the Project “Support to Increased Efficiency of Courts, Improved Training of Judges and Judicial Self-governance in Azerbaijan”, will be organised on 2 March 2016, with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Justice, the Judicial Legal Council, the Justice Academy, the 5 pilot courts and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan. The European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan will take an active role in this meeting, as the Project is financed by the European Union and implemented by the Council of Europe. The participants will review the achievements of the Project and discuss the activities planned for 2016.

Following the meeting of the Steering Committee, on 2-3 March, the Project will organise a roundtable to present to the national partners the draft court coaching reports developed by the experts of the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ). During this roundtable, representatives of the national judicial authorities and of the pilot courts will share their feedback on the reports, discuss their main findings and the solutions proposed in view of the implementation of the CEPEJ tools, which shall improve the efficiency and the quality of justice as a public service. In the course of 2016 the Project will continue supporting the Azerbaijani pilot courts in improving statistical data gathering and analysis, and introducing court user’s satisfaction surveys.
