The EU/Council of Europe joint projects “Promoting freedom, professionalism and pluralism of the media” and “Protecting internet freedom through legislation and arrangements for multi-stakeholder dialogue” were launched in January 2015.  The project “Promoting freedom, professionalism and pluralism of the media” aimed at improving professionalism and responsibility among media representatives and strengthen the independence of the broadcasting regulatory bodies and the public service broadcasters. The project “Protecting internet freedom through legislation and arrangements for multi-stakeholder dialogue” aimed at increasing compliance of national legal frameworks and policies concerning the internet with Council of Europe standards on freedom of expression and awareness of internet users about available remedies and redress when human rights online are violated.
